A TENBY based team who took part in a crazy European road-trip challenge have raised more than £1,000 for charity.

The 2013 Monte Carlo or Bust Banger Rally saw Adam Wilson, Will Warren and Nick Warren driving to the south of France in a souped-up Mitsubishi Space Runner which was transformed into a space shuttle.

As a result of the three-day challenge, they have now presented £1,038 to the West Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Amongst the donations towards this total was £250 from Valero, where Will, of Tenby and Adam, of Kilgetty, work as process operators, together with £200 donated by staff and customers of the Cornish pasty shop, Pasty Pasty, in New Quay.

Said Naomi Denning, who was part of the fundraising team: “I am amazed at the amount of money we were able to raise, and also blessed to have family and friends around us who have given their time and effort in supporting the boys on their journey to Monte Carlo.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everybody who donated, and a bigger thank-you to the West Wales Prostate Cancer Support Group for being there for a close family member.”

The group is a patient-led organisation and registered charity set up in 2007 to support men diagnosed with prostate cancer - and their partners - in west and south west Wales. It now has over 200 members.
