Apology over property mix-up

A COUNTY councillor has apologised after incorrectly stating that regeneration work on a property in Pembroke Dock included rendering on a rear extension.

At a meeting of full council earlier this month, a heated debate took place between Councillor Mike Stoddart and Cllr David Pugh regarding regeneration work to 25 Dimond Street in Pembroke Dock.

The discussion followed a request from Cllr Stoddart for bills of quantities, reports and final accounts to be made available on a confidential basis to council members, as he had previously raised concerns over the money spent on the work.

Cllr Pugh told councillors that figures estimated by Cllr Stoddart regarding rendering work on the property failed to take in to account a side elevation at the rear of the building, and asked: "So whether this is a deliberate untruth, or incompetence on his behalf in not checking the facts, I'll leave you all to decide."

However, after visiting the site last week, Cllr Stoddart found that there is no elevation at the rear of 25 Dimond Street.

In an email reply to Cllr Stoddart, Cllr Pugh said: “I freely admit that we made a mistake in looking at the rear of the properties in Dimond Street and confused numbers 25 and 27. I take full responsibility for the genuine error and hereby offer an unreserved apology for the remarks I made in council regarding the rendering of no 25 Dimond Street.”

I think a lot of actions sanctioned by PCC should be checked over by a team of archaeologists, they are good at digging and the uncovering of whats been hidden.

talking about grants and work done or not done what do ppl think of the upgrade to the A4075 (Hollywell Rd) to the main A477 Kilgerry to P Dock road?
HUGE earthworks taking months and the bend has just been made very slightly better - love to know the cost and whether it shot up or PCC really got the best deal

What I would like to know is the name of the person who claimed that the work had been done and the name of the person who approved the work for payment .Both should be called to account. What worries me and probably many other people in Pembrokeshire is how many other examples of financial ineptitude re hidden in th County Council cupboards .?

Cllr Pugh was so certain of the existence of this "third side elevation" at No. 25 Dimond Street, that he felt able to accuse me of being either incompetent, or a liar for failing to take it into account in my calculations.
Now that he has admitted that that this extra wall was a figment of his imagination, are we allowed to draw the same conclusions about him?
I will be posting something on my website this afternoon about further misrepresentations he made during his speech with regard to 29 Dimond Street.
And why wasn't this story in last week's newspaper?
They can't claim lack of time because I emailed them a copy of Pugh's apology before the weekend and it was all over the previous Friday's Pembrokeshire Herald.
