STORM force winds and heavy rain returned to batter parts of Pembrokeshire overnight.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has been inundated with weather-related calls this morning (Friday).

Crews in St Davids responded to loose aerials, guttering and slates in Nun Street and Bryn Teg, while those in Tenby were called to similar incidents in Harries Street, Greenhill Avenue and Clareston Road.

Pembroke Dock firefighters were called out to Main Street and Castle Terrace in Pembroke, and Milford Haven crews responded to damage caused to the Foresters Arms in Neyland.

Elsewhere the Cleddau Bridge was forced to close to all vehicles, but has since reopened to cars, and all Stenaline ferry sailings between Fishguard and Rosslare have been cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions.

Natural Resources Wales has issued a flood alert for the Pembrokeshire Coast, between St Dogmaels, Cardigan and Amroth, and also to rivers in south Pembrokeshire.

Joanne Sherwood from Natural Resources Wales said "We're expecting more winds today and our focus for this afternoon is along the coast of west Wales where we expect the wind along with the waves maybe to cause some spray or overtopping.

"So if you're out and about today and you're walking off your Christmas turkey and if you're near the coast take care. If you're driving near the coast please take care and if there are any doubts don't go near it.”
