Fundraisers for the Paul Sartori Foundation hot-footed it to Narberth Rugby Club on Saturday for a sponsored walk with a difference.

More than 40 people stepped barefoot across hot cinders to notch up a personal challenge, as well as  £4000+ for Pembrokeshire’s own hospice at home charity.

The event, sponsored by Gravells of Narberth, was organised by Tracy Povey and Jenna Paynter who will be taking part in October’s Himalayan trek in aid of the Foundation.

They brought a professional firewalking company in to stage the event, who gave participants in-depth training to enable them to stride along the scorching cinders at temperatures of more than 550 degrees Celsius.

"It was an absolutely fantastic evening, and everybody was buzzing," said Jenna. "The support from the crowd was amazing, and it was all for a great cause."

"There were no tricks to doing the firewalk - it was purely mind over matter, and everybody who had entered completed it. It felt as though you were walking on a super-hot, sandy beach, so that's what I pretended I was doing."

Members of Narberth and Whitland's Round Table and Rotary Club, as well as Round Tablers from Pembrokeshire and beyond were amongst those joining in the walk, which took place outside the club with a DJ creating a party atmosphere and demonstrations by the Pembrokeshire Fire Spinners. The fun later moved inside the club, with dancing to the West Coast Blues Band.
