Pembroke Castle Trust and Phil Thompson Promotions have announced the return of the Proms in Pembroke Castle today, Saturday, July 5 as a grand finale to Pembrokeshire Fish Week.

People are invited to bring their own picnics and chairs, and there will be pimms, prawns and other refreshments for sale on the night.

The popular event is going from strength-to-strength, and features Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), conducted by Michael Bell, who has been with the orchestra since 1988.

The CPO will perform an evening of popular classics concluding with Elgar ‘Pomp and Circumstance March 1’ and the closing section of Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812 Overture’, accompanied by the usual firework display.

Gates open at 5pm with the main concert starting at 7.30pm. Supporting the event is local duo, Brian and Clive, who will provide the entertainment from 6pm to 7pm, concluding the event with a joyful sing-a-long.

Tickets can be purchased from Pembroke Castle Gift Shop or book online at www.pembrokecastle.co.uk. They cost £12.50 in advance or £15 on the day.

Gazebo spaces (subject to availability) can be reserved with eight or more tickets.

This year’s concert is supported by Halsteds of Pembroke which is celebrating 50 successful years of business.
