Labour, Conservative and Plaid Cymru MPs are joining forces against a common enemy today-Cresselly Cricket Club.
Local MP Simon Hart has organised a match between the Lords and Commons cricket team and Cresselly Cricket Club which will take place in Cresselly today, Sunday July 20.
“I play a few times each year for the Lords and Commons cricket team and thought it would be fun to arrange a match against my old club in south Pembrokeshire,” explained Mr Hart, who kept wicket for Cresselly for ten years.
“So far I have managed to sign up five MPs for my team, including a Labour and a Plaid member, and we will be joined by family members and other friends from the area.
“Everyone is welcome to come and watch and we will also have a barbecue on the day to help raise money.”
The event has been sponsored by Valero, who will donate £1 per run to the Tom Maynard Trust. Tom played for Glamorgan and Surrey before his accidental death on a railway line in 2013 and the charity set up in his name supports aspiring disadvantaged cricketers and other sports people.
The match was originally planned to take place last September but had to be abandoned due to poor weather.
“I am very grateful to Valero for their support and to Cresselly Cricket Club for helping to arrange this special match,” added Mr Hart.
