A PEMBROKESHIRE diver was airlifted to a decompression chamber on Sunday morning (August 3) over fears that he surfaced too quickly.

The man was scuba diving in the St Brides area when he became separated from his dive buddy.

A Milford Haven Coastguard spokesman said: “During his ascent he had a potential rapid ascent event that caused concern.

"The doctor requested that he be brought in."

His dive boat brought him to Little Haven at around 11.50am, where he was met by the Wales Air Ambulance, the Broad Haven Coastguard Rescue Team and the Little Haven inshore lifeboat.

The man was airlifted to the Diving Diseases Research Centre in Plymouth and was placed in a decompression chamber as a precaution.
