Picton Castle and Gardens traditional Country Fair takes place today and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday).

Showcasing local produce and crafts to gundog displays and clay pigeon shooting, the fair hopes to capture the spirit of bygone days.

The Gundog demonstrations are just one of the event’s highlights. Owner of Fynongain Gundogs, Huw Jones, will demonstrate how these dogs earned the accolade of being 'the most intelligent of breeds', and advise visitors with questions about dog behavioural problems or training.

Family dogs are also welcome, and will have the opportunity to strut their stuff in the novelty and pedigree dog show classes.

You can try your hand with a bow and arrow, courtesy of Castle Archery, or have a go at clay pigeon shooting, using a harmless infra-red beam, under the guidance of Laser Clay brothers Ben and Tim.

Vehicle buffs can enjoy a Classic Car display (Sunday only), and Village Cream Teas, a Beer Tent, and the Picton Courtyard Restaurant will be on hand to fill you up when you are peckish.

The Annual Country Fair will open from 10.30am to 5pm. For more information, visit www.pictoncastle.co.uk or call 01437 751326.
