AN amazing £23,000 was raised by those taking part in May's Macmillian Cancer Support Dawn Walk.

With the sponsorship now in and counted the charity wants to thank all 300 walkers and volunteers who took part and helped raised such a magnificent sum.

The funds will be used by the charity to support people living with cancer in the local community and provide medical, practical, emotional and financial support to improve and change lives.

The main sponsors Semlogistics Milford Haven, have supported Macmillan throughout 2016 as Charity of the Year through a variety of staff fundraising including an annual Golf Day, The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Broadhaven Tri, running events and they will be holding an annual Xmas Jumper Day in December to celebrate the success of the partnership with Macmillan.

Event organiser, Ben Silverstone, said: "I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of Macmillan to everyone who took part in the Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk 2016. We had record numbers this year and we have received some fantastic feedback. The venue and route were perfect and we’d like to thank all the staff at Oriel Park Visitor’s Centre for their superb hospitality on the day. We couldn’t wish for a better location. Sincere thanks go to our main sponsors Semlogistics Milford Haven and Signspeed, NexMedia and the many local businesses that supported us and helped make the event such a success. And last but certainly not least, thank you to our amazing volunteers for their tireless efforts in making sure everything went smoothly on the day."

Sue Reece Fundraising Manager added: "We simply could not hold events like this which generate thousands of pounds for people living with cancer without the fantastic support from our sponsors, volunteers and supporters. We’re delighted to announce that Semlogisitcs will be our main sponsors again next year and are really looking forward to an even bigger event in 2017 so please do come and join us!"
