PEMBROKESHIRE Housing will now be able to help its tenants in rural areas access broadband thanks to more than £200,000 of lottery funding.

Jayne O’Hara, supported housing manager, said “Our tenants asked us for support to access affordable broadband and getting online, particularly in rural areas.

"We are delighted to have been awarded a People and Places Grant offer of £205,432 to enable us to run our ‘Get Connected’ project."

Earlier this year, a grant application was submitted to the Big Lottery Fund for a three-year digital inclusion project.

The project will start in April 2017 and will help to provide affordable broadband access to Pembrokeshire Housing tenants in rural areas, purchase a van providing digital access to tenants throughout the county and employ a new member of staff to run training courses and support tenants to get online.
