St Ishmaels (144 all out) lost to Lawrenny (146 for 7) by 3 wickets

A FIVE wicket haul from Rob Williams set Lawrenny up for a tense win at St Ishmaels.

Williams dismissed Peter Bradshaw and Andrew Williams in consecutive balls to leave the home side 6-2, and went onto take three more wickets to claim figures of 5-23 in an assured display of bowling.

Tish did recover from their early set-backs thanks to Phil Cockburn and Danny Howells – with Cockburn hitting four fours in his 35.

Howells went on to hit 52, striking four fours and a six in the process, but both batsmen fell to James Buckle (3-31).

Steve Lewis also took 1-24 as Tish fell to 144 all out in the final over of their innings.

Opener Andrew Cole (29) gave Lawrenny a steady start in their reply, but it was Joe Kidney who top scored as he hit three fours and a six in his knock of 53.

Jonathan Mathias added 23, while Andrew Pawlett (2-24) and Andrew Palmer (2-19) did their best to ensure a tense finish.

The visitors entered the final over needing just two win with four wickets in hand, and after Williams (2-17) took a wicket off the first ball, No 9 Jamie Lewis entered the fray and promptly stroked a boundary to seal a Lawrenny win.
