Adrian Griffiths bounced back to the sort of good form which marked him as one of the most respected bowlers in the county as the former Kilgetty skipper grabbed 6 for 16 for Haverfordwest on a damp Racecourse and helped reduce Burton from a steady 42 for 1 to 98 all out.

It was unlikely to be a good enough score to trouble The Town as Jonathan Twigg and Karl Rhead gave them a good start before Paul Thomas also belted a few runs to help take them home in only 18.5 overs.

Yet Burton had made a reasonable start as James Scale and skipper Richard Hayman put on 37 runs for the first wicket despite finding it difficult to score quickly against Paul Thomas and Darren Brick, who only conceded ten runs in as many overs while picking up two wickets, including that of top scorer James Scale for 32.

Chris Campbell was trapped LBW by Clive Tucker and Burton found Griffiths unplayable as he bowled Hayman for 18 and followed up with another five victims as no-one could fathom him out in 12 overs, four of them maidens - before Brick came back to finish things off in the 44th over to finish with a creditable 2 for 10.

Well aware of recent Town batting disasters, skipper Jonathan Twigg and partner Karl Rhead started sensibly and built the impetus on their way to a stand of 50 before Twigg was given out LBW to wily old fox Steve Jones, with five fours in his 32.

It appeared that Rhead (36 not out) and Paul Thomas (26, including a six and three boundaries) would see Haverfordwest home but Gareth Bevan gave Burton a consolation bowling bonus point by bowling Thomas at 94 so that Richard James, who had performed well behind the wicket, joined Rhead in seeing The Town home to a solid win which keeps them well in the top half of the table.
