The first Festival of Welsh Foods is on August 10th and 11th at the United Counties Showground, Carmarthen.
Up to a thousand invitations are this week going out to Welsh food producers across Wales.
This brand new exhibition will probably be the biggest food event in Wales this year. It is designed as a showcase for Welsh food, which is one of the countrys fastest growing sectors and seen to be the future of agriculture.
The venue can house up to 150 exhibitors and, with extensive marketing and television advertising, over 20,000 visitors are expected over both days.
This innovative exhibition has grown from the fact that all the established agricultural events for 2001 are cancelled owing to foot and mouth.
Instead of accepting that Welsh food producers will be forced into having a quieter year than usual, the organisers, Antur Cwm Taf/Tywi and Antur Teifi have joined together to develop a professional showcase for quality Welsh foods.
The festival is being billed as one of the main attractions at Carmarthenshire's Festival of Agriculture, The food festival is supported by the WDA's Agri Food Directorate and Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire County Councils.
