Fall in the number of unemployed

New figures from the Benefits Agency show that unemployment rates in Pembrokeshire have fallen since last year.

However, the new unemployment rate of 4.7% is still higher than the Welsh national average of 3.8%.

When broken into travel-to-work areas, Haverfordwest (which includes Milford Haven) has the largest number of unemployed, with 1,064 people out of work (4.5%). Pembroke and Tenby have 706 (4.9%), while Fishguard and St Davids have 187 (4.1%). The Cardigan area has 307 people out of work (3.3%).

As well as showing a reduction on the previous year, figures show that unemployment throughout Pembrokeshire has fallen between May and June.

Haverfordwest showed a reduction of 140 people, Pembroke and Tenby, 66 and Fishguard and St Davids, 12. Cardigan showed a reduction of 24 people.
