A major project at a Tenby hotel is one of the first schemes in Wales to benefit from Objective One funding.
Heywood Mount Hotel, in Heywood Lane, has just seen the completion of major refurbishment and upgrading work.
Not only have rooms and facilities been upgraded, but a state-of-the-art leisure complex has been created.
The £300,000 scheme was awarded a grant of more than £200,000 by the Wales Tourist Board from its allocation of £6.3 million of Objective One funding. The Boards chairman, Philip Evans, officially opened the development last Wednesday.
Proprietors Dennis and Jenny Andrews welcomed Mr Evans and guests, who were able to see the extensive work carried out on the 17 bedrooms, together with a new bar and dining room, as well as the Spa Leisure Suite which will also be open to the public.
The leisure complex is being managed by David Douglas Law, who has a BSc degree in sports and exercise science.
The facilities include a 32-foot swimming pool, jacuzzi, solarium and sauna; air-conditioned fitness gym and changing facilities.
Already an AA, RAC and WTB three-star rated hotel, the Andrews family hope that Heywood Mount will gain four-star status on the completion of further work - a second phase to provide a further 14 en-suite bedrooms.
