Autumn tourism campaign launched

A new marketing campaign has been launched by the Wales Touris Board in a bid to boost visitor figures this autumn and winter.

It is the most ambitious autumn programme in the history of the WTB and will target families and older couples looking for a short break.

The campaign has been developed by the boards new advertising agency, RedCell, and is designed to capture the imagination of those planning a short break and looking for inspiration, by focusing on Wales lost dragon who has left home in search of visitors.

Wales Tourist Board marketing director, Roger Pride, explained: Extending the traditional holiday season is a key part of the tourist boards long term strategy, and a successful campaign is critical this year to enable tourism businesses to generate essential revenue for re-investment and ongoing development of the industry.

The board has also recently announced a £5 million Tourism Resurgence Package to help operators all over Wales improve business through marketing, development, advertising and grading.

Some of the special interest breaks in Wales this autumn include: l Walking breaks with Celtic Trails along re-opened footpaths on the Pembrokeshire coast.

l Sailing breaks (with lessons) in Pembrokeshire. For further information and things to do and places to go in Wales call the help line 0800 80 100 000.
