Driving along the M4 you cannot fail to notice the industrial complex of Port Talbot and Swansea.
On a fly-over at Margam Park there is a windsock and below it a lake, home to the British Steel sailing club.
On the weekend of the 8th and 9th September over 30 sailors from around Wales competed in testing winds of 17-22 knots (force 5-6).
The Dale Yacht Club top sailing group did very well, with William Edwards coming first overall, reigning supreme in every one of the six races.
William is in the Welsh National Sailing Squad and has been travelling all over England and Wales on most weekends of the year to qualify for the UK Squad.
He is currently number four in Wales in the Topper Class.
The other members of the team have only just started competitive racing. Ben Sutcliffe trailed by just three points behind the other squadies in fifth place, Gareth Reynolds was sixth. Heidi Smith - eighth and Kate Powell - ninth.
Other members of the team were Amy Reynolds and Angharad Williams, the ever vigilant. hard working team of parents and Bramble, the do!
