WITH PIC - Daniel.tif/news low/current week/image 1 THREE young documentary filmmakers from Pembrokeshire College are to see their work on the big screen at a leading international film festival.
Wind Farms, A Necessity is a six-minute documentary made by three national diploma in media production students: Danielle Ryan, Chris Buckle and Donna Phillips. Their documentary has been chosen to be screened at the 35th annual Co-operative Young Film Makers Festival to be held at Bradfords National Museum of Photography, Film and Television on October 12th and 13th.
The festival has attracted 258 entries from all corners of the UK and abroad. Just under 100 have been selected for screening at the two-day event, which this year has been supported by the British Film Institutes Film Festival Fund.
The documentary looks at the arguments for wind power in Britain by focusing on an application for a wind farm to be built near the Pembrokeshire National Park. This in turn has wider implications for the future of energy in Britain and the look of the countryside.
Chris Buckle said: We decided on the subject matter and researched it ourselves as well filming and editing it on our own. The initial idea came from Danielle Ryan who saw an article in the Western Telegraph.
We hope the finished video gives a balanced perspective on a new sustainable energy source in Britain and gives reasons why some people are against wind turbines and some are in favour of them, said Danielle.
