Ely Rangers 1 Milford United 1
Despite having won only one game so far this season Milford United manager Mickie Lewis is a very happy man because his young squad of players are starting to get some confidence.
It was a pleasing performance. he said, We are starting to take some shape. They are one of the better sides in the division and after the game they said we were one of the best teams that has played there all season.
Milford have given debuts to a number of players in recent weeks and Nathan Davies of Solva was the man to make his on the weekend and like the others he slotted in very well to the Robins brand of sleek, attractive football.
Steve Clarke is another newcomer to the club and Lewis was singing his praises because the young midfield player is definitely one to watch out for.
Milford went 1-0 down quite early on when keeper Mark Poole was deemed to have brought a man down illegally and they scored from the spot kick.
However, Milford bounced back had had their chances to score though Richie Adams, Phil Caitlin and Richard Bland who had a very powerful header well saved.
They went into the interval still trailing yet confident that they could turn things around.
They began the second half well and chances fell to Nathan Davies, Adams and Ricky Morgan, who was outstanding again in midfield, but neither could find the back of the net.
Ely appeared to be holding on for victory until the final five minutes when they too brought someone down in the box and Adam made no mistake with the penalty.
Ely came back but Poole made a couple of good saves and in the end a draw was probably the best result although Lewis was slightly frustrated not to come away with the win.
Were looking very good and creating a lot of chances, but its annoying that we are not converting them, were just not putting them away, but theres no reason why we cant pick up some points in our next few games.
Milfords next opponents are Cardiff Civil Service a week on Sunday which gives Lewis and his men a few days to work on finding the back of the net.
Milford United: Mark Poole, Mark Powell, John Hicks, Richard Bland, Gavin Griffiths, Steve Clarke, Phil Caitlin, Paul McMuruis, Ricky Morgan, Richie Adams, Nathan Davies; Subs: Micky Lewis, Dylan Evans.
