Historic inn sold in off-market deal

40NewsPubsoldwithpic The historic Royal Oak Inn in Fishguards Market Square has been sold in a confidential off-market deal to well-known family brewers S. A. Brain and Co. Ltd, of Cardiff.

The Bristol office of leading licensed property agents, Christie & Co, recently announced the sale, which took place on September 10th.

Christie & Co acted on behalf of David and Marie Whelan who originally took over the business as tenants and purchased the freehold property from the then corporate operators.

The sale was concluded on a confidential basis without the property actually being advertised.

Christies spokesman, Ken Davies, said the company will operate the Royal Oak as a tenancy.

The new manager is Kevin Rose and the landlords are Paul and Debbie Johnson, who are also landlords of the Coach House in High Street.

David Owen, who negotiated the sale, said: We at Christie & Cos Bristol office are proud to have been associated with the sale of one of the areas best known, historically connected inns.

The Royal Oak Inn was sold for an undisclosed figure off an asking price of £275,000 for the freehold.
