A popular north Pembrokeshire YFC member, Delme Harries (pictured), is the new Wales chairman of the Young Farmers Clubs movement.
The son of Mr and Mrs Dewi Harries, of Puncheston Farm, Puncheston, he joined Llysyfran club at the age of 11 and has since held every office in his club, has represented the Federation on National Council, chaired numerous county committees and currently represents YFC at European level.
Employed as a manager by the National Farmers Union at their Haverfordwest office, he is also involved with community groups including the Clarbeston Road Amateur Dramatic Society (as an actor and producer) and with the Landsker Singers who perform at a considerable number of charity concerts and church events.
Delme will figure prominently in a major objective to revitalise the movement following its enforced lengthy break brought about by foot and mouth disease.
In calling for the full support of all past and present members he said: We now have an immense task to provide an attractive programme of activities for our existing members and also to recruit new ones. We need to recover some of the essential income which we would have had in over the past eight months.
