Cleddau Bridge owners buy hotel in Carmarthen

Corus and Regal Hotels, through their agents Robert Barry and Company, have sold the 73-bedroom Ivy Bush Royal Hotel in Carmarthen.

Offers over £850,000 were being sought and there was considerable competition among purchasers in the closing stages.

The hotel was bought by brothers, Tony and John Purcell, who also own the Cleddau Bridge, at Pembroke Dock.

They have big plans for the Ivy Bush Royal.

John Purcell said: The Ivy Bush is the main hotel in Carmarthen and as such it deserves a higher profile and better accommodation than it already has. We are planning to invest substantial sums in upgrading the property and putting it firmly on the map.
