Police warn drivers to 'clunk,click every trip'

Dyfed-Powys police, in conjunction with the other Welsh forces, will be focusing on vehicle seat belt issues during a nationally co-ordinated two week initiative from November 5th to 9th.

Efforts will be made to heighten the public's awareness of the importance of wearing a vehicle seat belt on all journeys.

The initiative will involve many organisations and community groups across the country and locally Dyfed-Powys police will be joining forces with county road safety officers to educate and enforce seat belt legislation.

The focus in Dyfed-Powys will be that of targeting the most vulnerable of road users, such as children and elderly people. The relationship between serious injuries and death and not wearing a seat belt is well documented.

To this end Dyfed-Powys police and their partners are urging motorists to think and to always wear a seat belt, no matter how short the journey. The message of 'clunk, click, every trip', is as viable now as ever.

The maximum fine for not wearing a seat belt is £1,000.
