Pembrokeshire is due to receive an extra £1 million from the Welsh Assembly as part of a £25 million two-year package of funding to tackle a backlog of road repairs and maintenance in Wales.
The hand-out was unveiled by Minister for Environment Sue Essex on Friday. She said 22 Welsh local authorities would receive the extra cash for a variety of projects, including carriageway and footway repairs, town centre pedestrianisation, improved lighting and bridge strengthening works.
The local authority road network has been in a poor state of repair in many areas due to consistent underfunding over a considerable period, she said.
