Milford United 1 St Ishmaels 2
St Ishmaels good form of late continued over the weekend as they walked out winners over near neighbours Milford United at Marble Hall. This was an intriguing tie not just because of it being a derby but because both sides are showing good form in the league this year.
As it happens, the visitors just held the edge as they moved the ball freely around the park and made Milford suffer from any lapses of concentration in defence as they struck two goals past United keeper Richard Phillips.
Tish took the lead after only seven minutes as in-form striker Adam Daviess left footed shot was parried into the path of Steve Parkes who made no mistake as he drilled the ball home.
Other chances fell to Davies and Neil Flynn but the score remained 1-0 as the sides went in to the break.
Flynn made no mistake in the second period as he scored within two minutes of the restart.
It had an air of fortune about it however as he shot hard and the ball rebounded off the cross bar into the goal.
United weathered the storm of the second half and for the final 30 minutes of the game came back into it and actually dominated proceedings.
They reduced the deficit when Tom Carrington nipped one in as he supported Terry Bevan well who supplied the scoring cross after a storming run down the right wing.
Andy Burgoyne and Leighton Edwards both had their chances to score but lady luck evaded them and Tish walked away with the points much to the relief of stalwart Billy Howlin who said:
I think we deserved to win on our overall play.
