Tenby too strong for struggling Saints

Tenby 6 St Clears 2

Tenby assistant manager Deryn Brace believes that St Clears are not as bad a side as their position in the league suggests saying:

They are a better side than some of the others in the league as they are well organised. Theyre just a bit light going forward thats all.

The former Wrexham and Wales players views will surely go down well with Saints skipper Steve Trivett who will no doubt use his words as motivation for their game this weekend with Carew.

The struggling new boys have failed to win a game all season with their only point coming against Carew earlier on in the league campaign.

Trivett would have been delighted with the start that his team made on the weekend as they took the lead early on after Keith Davies was brought down in the box and he duly got up, dusted himself down and converted past Dewi Davies to put his side 1-0 to the good.

Tenby equalised after around 30 minutes when they grabbed two quick goals. The first was a spectacular overhead kick by Anthony Griffiths while Ricky Morgan grabbed the second. Rugby convert Gavin Scotcher slipped in for his first and the teams third to leave the score at half time 3-1 to the homesters.

The second half entered a period of stalemate for a while but then Scotcher showed his class for his second and the teams fourth. Davies was again brought down in the box and converted another penalty to make the score 4-2, but then Morgan grabbed another to extend their lead again.

Mark Snelling and Paul Edwards both went close for the visitors but it was the homesters who had the final say when Phil Catlin went on a mazy run to score the teams final and best goal of the match.

Trivett was quite gracious in defeat saying:

We battled hard but they were just better than us.
