Thieves leave hospital radio station facing 33,500 bill for new equipment

A BREAK-IN at the Withybush FM Roadshow unit, sometime on Monday night, December 17th, forced the cancellation of a live broadcast on 87.7FM from the Riverside Quay in Haverfordwest, on Saturday, December 22nd.

Thieves made off with equipment to the value of £3,500 - a Soundcraft Spirit 16 channel mixer, a custom-built radio link transmitter, a H+H 100 watt amplifier and a Data General computer monitor, which had been installed in the unit ready for the roadshow.

The nature of the charity radio stations insurance does not cover this type of burglary. So, it will be left to the volunteers of the station to raise funds and request donations to replace the equipment.

Members of the public who may have information relating to the burglary are asked to contact PC 964 Byron Fawcett at Haverfordwest police station on 01437 763355.
