Woman mugged in town centre car park

A young woman from Haverfordwest had her handbag snatched by three men on Monday morning while walking through Castle Lake car park.

The three men, who were in their late teens/ early 20s, made off with the handbag up the steps at the edge of the car park towards Haverfordwest Castle.

The bag was found by police hidden under bushes near the top of the steps. Cash, cheques and a mobile phone had been stolen. The mobile was found later in the town.

The woman, aged 22, was not injured, but is said to have been shocked. The incident happened at about 9.45 am, virtually in the middle of the car park.

Inspector Nigel Hayes is appealing for anyone in the car park between 9.30 am and 10 am to come forward if they can help with inquiries. Equally, we would ask people in premises overlooking the car park to come forward if they can help, he said.

Haverfordwest police station can be contacted on 01437 763355.
