Llangwm 17 St Clears 26
St Clears fly half Andrew Percy Edwards was the catalyst for his sides second half comeback at Pill Parks which saw them overturn a 14-point deficit into a win double since they had scraped home 30-28 in the previous tussle between the sides.
Edwards slotted a first-half penalty as his side trailed 17-3 and slotted three more and two conversions as the Saints used their one-man advantage after Llangwm back-row man Lewis Woods had been given his marching orders.
But it seemed that the Wasps had done enough as they grabbed first half tries by flanker Simon Brick, prop Richard Scriven and winger Martin Thomas from a neat chip ahead and run from the 22.
Skipper Scriven managed one conversion and with Keith Locke, Johnnie James and Hamish Nicholls all winning good ball it seemed as if the Wasps were going to be able to defend their lead against the elements. But then Edwards notched his second and third penalty with a fourth following before the Wasps had time to regroup.
Edwards and partner Rob Wray made sure that their pack kept up a head of steam and they took the lead with ten minutes remaining when full back Kevin Pearce raced through and Edwards duly landed the conversion.
He added another in the very last minute when left winger Dian Phillips crossed for the Saints second try to seal a win, leaving the Wasps to reflect on what might have been had they been able to play throughout with 15 men.
