Tish come out on top in battle of the Saints

St Ishmaels 3 St Clears 0

Referee: Paul Jackson

Mark Davies St Ishmaels side kept up their good run of form with a comprehensive win over St Clears at the weekend.

Played in superb conditions, the game was evenly balanced in the first half with both sides playing some good football.

St Clears, looking for their first win of the season, had a few chances early on but Steve Trivett had a shot well saved by John Pawlett and Paul Edwards shot just wide.

Tish came back into the game and created chances of their own as Steve Parkes had a good chance while Huw Kucjy and Steve Williams both caused Jason Windsor some problems in the visiting goal, but neither could get the score that would put their team into the lead.

Chances kept coming for the home team as Neil Flynn and Adam Davies went close, but no goals were coming and the score remained tied at 0-0 at the break.

St Clears started the better of the two sides after the oranges and they could quite easily have taken the lead had Charlie Smiths shot not re-bounded off the post. Keith Davies also had a shot well saved.

However, it was the home side that took the lead after 65 minutes when Steve Parkes took hold of the ball following a good build-up in midfield and fired the ball home for a goal.

Five minutes later and goal number two arrived thanks to the boot of Kucjy who slammed the ball past the outstretched Windsor from out side the box for a spectacular goal.

Finally, in the 85th minute, the Tish pressure finally told on the visitors and Marc Devonald wrapped it up with a good finish from an acute angle.
