Draw proves County have strength in depth

Haverfordwest County 2 Briton Ferry Athletic 2

With Briton Ferrys Welsh League side being without a game, the visitors brought virtually a full First Division side to the Bridge Meadow on Saturday and the young Bluebirds did extremely well to come from behind twice to collect a point.

Briton Ferrys opening goal was cancelled out by a strike from Anthony Roberts, back in his favourite position at the head of the attack, and, after the visitors had gone 2 - 1 up at the interval, it was a Simon Gilderdale goal which gave the Meadow side a point.

Indeed, it could have been three, for Roberts went just wide in the closing stages, as did Tom Billing, who also had a shot cleared off the line. A brilliant late save by Woodhouse, in a one-on-one, ensured that the visitors did not pinch the win.

The Bluebirds played an extremely young side in this fixture, with debuts for goalkeeper Carl Woodhouse (from Fishguard), for 17-year-old Matthew Ellis and for 16-year-old Daniel Wilks, who really impressed manager Jeff Blain when he came on as substitute in the second half. There is strength in depth in this squad.

Haverfordwest County: Carl Woodhouse, Nigel Jenkins, Paul Luke, Simon Gilderdale, Haydn Ralph, James McFadden, Steven Phillips, Sean Jones, Tom Billing, Anthony Roberts, and Matthew Ellis. Subs (both played): Daniel Wilks, and John Morgan.
