Tycroes 21 Pembroke 7
Two tries by winger Gareth Jones helped Tycroes beat a Pembroke side which played well enough in parts but in the words of coach Ossie Boswell, were never really at a full rate of knots behind the scrum.
Jones raced through twice and wing partner David Payne helped set up the other try for home scrum half Ian Willis as the Scarlets had the edge in the set pieces but lost ball in the turn-over aspect of the game to put themselves under pressure.
This was evident early on when they conceded two penalties and Tycroes outside half Ken Lloyd was able to open up a six-point gap before Jones raced over for his first try.
Pembroke fought back and skipper Sandy Allen grabbed a try which was converted by full back Phil Williams to restrict Tycroes to an 11-7 interval lead.
It was a similar story after the break as the Scarlets were in contention in terms of territory but Jones and Willis pounced for unconverted tries to give Tycroes considerable revenge since they had lost by 31-3 at Crickmarren, when the Scarlets were firing on all cylinders!
