Reward on offer to catch shotgun thieves

Burglars who stole a double-barrelled shotgun from a property in South Pembrokeshire could be putting their safety at risk, police have warned. The gun was taken during the early hours of Wednesday when Palmers Lake Farm, between Penally and St Florence, was broken into.

The thieves made off in a blue Mitsubishi Shogun vehicle belonging to the property owner, taking with them documents, keys and an Ericsson make mobile phone.

It was driven to the Pembroke and Monkton areas where it was involved in several collisions with parked vehicles, and was then abandoned in Golden Lane.

A short time before this incident, a Vauxhall Astra car was stolen from outside Red House, Penally. It was abandoned in a field near The Ridgeway after going through the hedge.

None of the stolen property has been recovered, and police are particularly concerned about the shotgun. Said a spokesman: Its condition may represent a danger to any person who attempts to use or finds the weapon.

The gun carries the serial number 38282. Anyone with any information is asked to contact either Tenby Police Station on (01834) 842303/4; Pembroke Dock Police Station on (01646) 682121 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone connected with the incident.
