Sutherland gallery plans gain momentum

PLANS to house the Sutherland Collection in a gallery in St Davids are growing in momentum.

The centre, if it goes ahead, will show the collection of Sutherlands paintings which were housed at Picton Castle until 1995.

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has been in negotiations with The National Museums and Galleries of Wales, Pembrokeshire County Council, the Countryside Council for Wales, the Welsh Development Agency and the Wales Tourist Board about the project.

National Park projects manager Phil Roach told the Park Authority on Wednesday: It is really encouraging and all the signs are very positive. We have had a lot of support from funding partners. All the major players are committed to the project.

A working group will be set up, once a consultant has been appointed.
