Whitland 17 Milford Haven 5
Whitland earned a semi-final tie against old rivals Narberth as they fended off a strong challenge from an experienced Milford haven side which never gave up trying until the final whistle. But the Borderers always held the edge as they took a 17-5 interval lead, with both sides missing chances to add to their tally after the interval.
Nathan Young was wide with an early penalty for the mariners before Whitland took the lead with a try by Simon Rogers, playing at scrum half instead of his normal pivots position and also adding the conversion as a bonus after he had sniped through to the line.
Derek Thomas made a welcome return to the green and white No 8 shirt as he bustled over for a try which Rogers converted and although Milford player/coach Dean Haley crashed over for an unconverted try it was Rogers who had the final word of an abrasive half as he slotted a penalty.
Play was equally hard-fought after the break and home prop Wayne Higgon and Milfords Haley were sent to the bin for a cooling off period, with no points to show for a lot of physical effort as Whitland remained ahead to move comfortably into the last four.
