Raid your attic for hidden treasures

BBC ONEs popular Sunday evening programme Antiques Roadshow opens its doors to the public when it visits Tenby Leisure Centre, Marsh Road, on Thursday April 18th.

Some of Britains leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be there, including Eric Knowles, Lars Tharp, Hilary Kay and Henry Sandon, who was the subject of This Is Your Life on BBC One on Wednesday. The experts will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors, who are invited to raid their attics and bring along their family heirlooms, household treasures and car boot bargains for inspection by the experts.

Michael Aspel, who has presented the Roadshow for the past two years, will be accompanying the Roadshow as it travels around Britain for its 25th series. The Antiques Roadshow is literally a national treasure, says Michael. The fact that we will be celebrating 25 years with this series shows how popular it remains with the public.

Producer Christopher Lewis says: We look forward to our trips to Wales. I remember that it was at Caernarfon in 1999 that we had a great discovery - a 25p soap dish which turned out to be a 16th century bleeding bowl worth £6,000.

The roadshows doors open at 9.30 am and close at 4.30 pm. Queues often build up early in the morning and the Roadshow team point out that they are pleased to see visitors throughout the day.

People with large pieces of furniture or other big items can send details and photographs of their objects to: Antiques Roadshow, BBC, White ladies Road, Bristol BS8 2LR or e-mail them to:

antiques.roadshow@bbc.co.uk.

It may be possible to arrange to look at the item in advance and organise transportation to the leisure centre.
