A survey of Welsh house prices shows that the average price of properties in West Wales is £63,495. This is up by 7.5% on last year, but is actually the lowest increase in the Principality.
West Wales includes Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot.
Last week the Western Telegraph highlighted the huge increase in the price of properties in Pembrokeshire coastal 'hotspots'. Local estate agents confirmed that prices in those areas had gone up by 60% to 70%. The survey shows that the average price in Wales is £72,963, an annual increase of 11.1%, compared with 6% a year ago. This is the fastest rate of growth for Welsh house prices for over ten years.
South East Wales has seen the biggest rise to £79,550, a 12.4% increase; Mid Wales is £76,227, a 9.1% rise, and North Wales is £68,458, an 8.2% rise.
