The Noah's Ark Appeal will receive a boost this week when the Pembrokeshire Jubilee Medallion goes on sale.
The limited edition coin is the brainchild of Pembrokeshire county councillor, Peter Stock, and another Haverfordwest resident, George Harries.
Gold medallions cost £16 and bronze ones £8, with all the proceeds being donated towards the £5 million appeal to build a children's hospital in Wales.
Both men hope to raise around £10,000.
The medallion has the Queen's head on one side and the Pembrokeshire coat of arms on the other and comes in a beige case which enables the coin to be displayed.
Two years ago Councillor Stock organised the sale of the Haverfordwest Millennium Medal, and Mr Harries originated the Jordan Service Medal in 1997 with the help of the late King Hussein. The medals raised over £4,000 each for local charities.
Councillor Stock has already taken 300 advance orders for the Pembrokeshire Jubilee Medallion.
'I am anxious that those who want to buy it get their orders in as quickly as possible as only a limited number will be issued,' he explained. 'The great benefit of this project is that people are not only donating money for a very worthwhile cause, but in return they are buying something which will last forever.'
Councillor Stock also revealed that the National Museum of Wales had already requested a copy of the medallion for its collection.
To order the Pembrokeshire Medallion Coin, contact Councillor Stock, 148 Haven Road, Haverfordwest, SA61 1DG; phone him on 01437 764039, or through any Pembrokeshire county councillor.
