Countys most popular pup!

The most sought-after dog in Pembrokeshire has found a home with a family in Johnston.

Jessica Howlett was thrilled to take in the seven-month-old German shepherd/lurcher cross whose appearance in last weeks Western Telegraph prompted 30-40 calls a day, from people wanting to give her a home.

The pup, previously named Tyson, has been renamed Tessa.

When fire ravaged her previous owners flat in Monkton, Tessa was taken into council care as she could not follow her owner into temporary accommodation. She was offered for adoption when the owner decided not to take her back.

Jessica said: I was very lucky to get her. I called the kennels at 8 oclock on Wednesday morning and must have got the owner out of bed!

Jessica, who always had dogs around when growing up, had been looking for a dog before clapping eyes on Tessa. She and her husband had held back from getting a dog after the birth of daughter, Bethany, who is now 21 months old.

Jessica said: Bethany and Tessa get on really well. She loves dogs and is used to seeing them because most of our friends have them.

Since her arrival last Wednesday night, Tessa has already made friends with the boxer dog next door and has become rather fond of the sofa. Everywhere I turn, shes there like a little shadow, said Jessica.

Such was the demand at Lawrennys Broad Lane Kennels, where Tessa was the only guest, kennel owner, Kevin Hart has urged those looking for a four-legged friend to call back on a weekly basis. He hopes some of them may be able to give homes to dogs found in the future.
