Riverside property sold for £218,000

THE rising prices of property in Pembrokeshire were highlighted at an auction in Haverfordwest on Thursday.

Underwood, a former farmhouse overlooking the Cleddau Estuary at Hook, was given a reserve price of £100,000.

Despite the fact that the house had not been occupied for the last ten to 12 years, it went under the hammer for an astonishing £218,000.

Mr John Nicholas, who conducted the auction on behalf of estate agents, J. J. Morris, said: The property is in an outstanding riverside location. This emphasises the strength of the property market for good quality well located properties. Another property, Penporth Clais, St Davids, went for £220,000 recently.

The farmhouse, which has 9.31 acres and an outbuilding, needs extensive renovation.

Mr Nicholas said: There is enormous interest, but a lot of local people didnt get an opportunity to bid. Bidding actually started at £100,000 and moved very quickly to £180,000, finishing at £218,000. The purchaser was from Llandissilio and there was a local underbidder.

He added that, at the same auction, a one acre paddock went for £16,000 to a local buyer.
