Motorist killed in collision

A motorist has died after a two-car collision on the A477 road near Red Roses on Monday afternoon.

The man, from the Llanelli area, was driving a Vauxhall Astra towards the village from the Llanteg direction when the accident happened at 5.10 pm. The other car, a Citroen, being driven by a man from the Pembroke area, was travelling in the opposite direction.

Police were due to name the dead man yesterday (Tuesday) after all his relatives had been notified.

The road was closed for four hours after the accident while police accident investigators attended the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, who should contact Carmarthen Police Station on (01267) 232000.
