THE FUTURE of the former Whitland creamery site was high on the priority list of issues for the new chief executive of Carmarthenshire County Council, Mark James, when he met Councillor James Morgan, the chairman of the Taf Myrddin area committee, recently.
Both were delighted with the news that Dairy Crest, the Welsh Development Agency and Carmarthenshire County Council have engaged in a partnership to resolve the future of the former creamery site.
They have commissioned a study that will investigate the sites current state, a range of future options and the preferred option, which will be fully costed.
The two met during the chief executives tour of the Taf Myrddin area. As well as Whitland, Mr James also visited St Clears, Laugharne, Llanybri, Llansteffan, Llangain and Johnstown.
Some of the other issues raised during the chief executives meeting with Councillor Morgan, and other local members, included the bad condition of some of the roads in the Llanboidy and Trelech areas, and an exact date from the National Assembly of when the countys boundary will be changed in Clynderwen.
