Carew 2nds (147 for 6) beat Neyland (146 for 8) Umpires: Hilliard Davies and Trefor Evans
There were runs aplenty at Carew as Neyland batted first and reached a healthy 146 for 8 before the home side topped it for the loss of six wickets, with talented teenager Stephen Ive leading the way with bat and ball.
He opened the bowling for Carew and grabbed 3 for 31 and then showed his batting skills after tea when he finished up with three big sixes in his unbeaten 37 that steered The Villagers home.
Neyland made a shaky start as they lost father and son Martin and John James cheaply but David Desmond Haynes and skipper Andrew Miller settled in with a stand of 90 that redressed the balance.
Fishguard School teacher Haynes scored 35 before he was trapped lbw in Ives second spell while Miller oozed class with 64 before he was removed by the same bowler.
From there on the innings lost momentum as no-one else managed double figures but Gary Lloyd and old warrior Mike Pickaxe Tennick made sure that they werent all out before the Carew reply was given a solid start by Gerald Hicks and Martin Scourfield, who was first out for 20, Tennick the bowler to make the initial break-through.
Aled Davies (18) helped Hicks (42) keep the scoreboard ticking towards the target and when both fell to the spin wiles of Gary Lloyd it was left to Ive to hit the winning runs, home captain Ceri Davies giving assistance until he was out just short of victory.
Saundersfoot (202 for 6) beat Stackpole (87 all out) Umpire: Les Hastings Saundersfoot enjoyed the biggest win of the day in the section as they thumped Stackpole by 115 runs as Mike Williams again starred with the bat and all five bowlers played a part with wickets as Dickie Parcell led the way with 4 for 28 in ten good overs.
Stackpole started well as they removed Steve Cook cheaply but Barry Phillips (39) and Nick Joseph (32) redressed the balance, with Phillips smashing two sixes and five fours.
Ian Poole looked good for his 25 but was needlessly run out and Mike Williams showed his batting skills with four sixes and six fours before he finally fell to Alan Webster, who was far and away the most successful Stackpole bowler with 3 for 43 as The Seasiders reached a huge 202 for 6 in their allotted 45 overs.
Stackpole needed a good start if they were to mount a challenge but they were soon in deep trouble as Dickie Parcell picked up the visitors top batting in Haydn Phillips, Steve Mitchell, Webster and the dangerous Anthony Canton.
Steve Cook trundled his left-arm spinners to shift Tony McTaggart and Martin Alderman and from there on it was downhill all the way for Stackpole as Chris Parker, Kevin Sykes and Danny James wrapped up the Stackpole tail as they were dismissed for only 87 runs.
Llechryd (67 all out) lost to St Ishmaels (68 all out) Umpires: Mike Harries and Dave Morris Scorers: Tim Rees and Wendy Bradshaw
St Ishmaels bounced back from some disappointing recent form to easily dispose of Llechryd in the bottom of the table clash - and should now move up the table as they gain in confidence.
Llechryd are still to find a settled side and again were in trouble with the bat as they were shot out for a paltry 67.
Spear-heading the Tish attack was pace bowler Kristan Bennett and spinner Steve Williams, who earned respective figures of 4 for 23 and 3 for 9 as only Chris Salacinski (10) and Duane Williams (21) managed double figures.
Jonathan Pawlett and Andrew Palmer also picked up a wicket apiece and Pawlett also batted well after Glyn Griffiths had been needlessly run out for 9 and Steve Williams was bowled by the returning Mark Ratcliffe for 11. Pawlett had four fours in a polished 32 not out while Andrew Palmer was there with him at the finish as Tish strolled to victory on 68 for 2 in under 17 overs. The St Ishmaels match ball was sponsored by Mr Derek Jenkins.
Narberth (117 for 5) beat Haverfordwest 2nds (113 for 9) Umpires: Barry Wood and Glyn Pawlett Scorers: Gwynneth Johns and Ros Phillips
Narberth improved their promotion hopes as they beat Haverfordwest Seconds by five wickets.
The Town Stiffs batted first and could muster just 113 for 9 against tight Narberth bowling and steady fielding - and the father and son duo of Mike and Matthew Johns led Narberth home with their batting stints.
Matthew Johns certainly had a day to remember because after Ian Hughes and Ceri Jones had grabbed three quick wickets he pouched a brace himself to get rid of Jamie Jenkins (15) and John Tooze (14). But with a 2 for 5 analysis after three overs he was called away from the match in his work as a fireman - and it was left to spinners Greg Morris and Nick Evans to wrap up the Haverfordwest innings.
That they reached three figures was due to the late batting of Steve James, who had three fours and a six in his unbeaten 36, and Mickie Phillips, the County Club assistant secretary again advancing strong claims to be moved up the order with 19 precious runs batting at No 10.
Phillips also struck with the ball as he bowled Daniel Hughes early in the Narberth reply and The Town sniffed a slight chance as acting captain Colin Williams removed Davy Johns and Marc Hughes at the other end. But Matthew Johns returned to the fray alongside his father and was soon into his most fluid style with eight fours and a six en route to a fifty made from only 48 balls as they added 76 runs.
But then he was bowled by Mickie Phillips, who finished with 2 for 20, before Mike Johns was fooled by the occasional spin of Steve James and he was caught by Jamie Jenkins for a solid 31 that didnt contain a boundary but was again the anchor innings in a Narberth success.
Burton (114 all out) lost to Johnston (172 for 7) Umpires: Chris Raine and Philip Marsden Scorers: Stuart Sharp and Bryan Morgan
Burton lost their unbeaten record against a gritty Johnston side which recovered from the disaster of 16 for 3 to set a target that was too big for the section leaders.
Star of the Burton performance was Mike Bull, who scored a thumping 77 that included 12 fours and then put on his wicket-keeping gloves to pick up a stumping and three catches as Burton were always under pressure from brothers Richard and Steve James, plus Johnston skipper Steve Jenkins.
Chris Murray and Kevin Roberts caused the early problems for Johnston as both bowled well, Murray removing the in-form John Summons in his 3 for 26 haul. But Bull survived early chances as catches went down and after Chris Fitzpatrick had helped him put on 69 there was a real increase in the tempo when Chris Walters arrived at the crease.
Walters belted a six and five fours in a quick 38 not out and Bull scored his 77 after previous innings this season of 0 and 1.
Burton captain Chris Campbell topped the homesters early batting with 20 but they lost key run-gather Oliver Shelldrake for a duck as Steve Jenkins claimed 3 for 47 with Richard James again opening the bowling with 3 for 19 despite a dodgy knee.
Little brother Steve chipped in with 2 for 13 in ten accurate overs and Chris Fitzpatrick rounded off a good personal performance with a wicket brace as only Steve Jones, batting in the unaccustomed lowly position of No 8, stroked six fours before he was out for 39 with Burton all out for 114.
The Burton sponsor was Paul Ward, Building Contractor of Johnston, whilst the Johnston match day sponsor was Rite Konnection.
