THERE IS a leprechaun on the loose in Pembrokeshire and anyone who has seen it should contact the police!
He will not be hard to spot as he is made of solid wood and crouching on top of a nine foot totem pole with carvings down the sides.
The pole was carved by Team 82 from the Princes Trust Cymru with help from Simon Hedger, a rustic carver from Carmarthen.
The group created the pole during a week of work on the Texaco project - a tour of duty which most Princes Trust teams in the area complete as part of their 12-week course.
The Texaco project, which will last for three years, aims to turn the disused St Marys Church at Pwllcrochan, just outside the refinery fence, into an environmental education centre.
Team 82 leader, Tom Moses, said: Its odd that someone would steal it from such an out of the way place. I dont know if anyone ever goes down there. It would probably take two people to carry it and they would need a fairly large car to take it away. We cant think what anyone hopes to do with it, because its pretty distinctive.
The theft took place sometime in mid-May and anyone who has seen the pole should contact Pembroke Dock Police Station on 01646 682121. * The next Princes Trust team starts on June 24th and anyone wishing to join the programme should call 01646 603130.
