Lamphey (129 for 7) drew with Pembroke (188 for 5) Umpires: Alan Hansen and Tony Davies Scorer: Helen Hodges
A fine innings of 92 not out from opener Barry Evans was the cornerstone of the Pembroke batting performance at nearby Lamphey as they gained the better of the draw as they amassed 188 for 5 and restricted the opposition to 129 for 7, an innings again dominated by veteran Peter Hall with a top score of 51.
Evans carried his bat and after the early loss of Matthew Mitchell, well caught by Alan Lewis off the bowling of new Welsh international Tim Haggar, found a willing ally in Mark Fraser, the pair advancing the score to 80 before Fraser was bowled for 37, including six boundaries.
But hopes of a home break-through were dashed as Gareth Scourfield helped Evans add another 75 runs before he was caught by Mark Yea, unable to keep wicket because of a knee injury but able to field, off Hywel Gibbs for 29.
Greg England struck twice more to shift Gwyn Griffiths and Nigel Phillips in the late run charge but went for 60 runs from his ten overs as Pembroke scored their first 50 in 72 minutes, their second in 47 minutes and their third in only 24 minutes as Evans just missed out on a century but struck eight fours in his 92 not out.
Lamphey made a very good start as they set out after tea, with Peter Hall joining Daniel Sutton in taking the total to 50 before Sutton edged a catch into the waiting gloves of Keith Johnson off Kevin Jenkins for a neat 29 that included four fours.
Jenkins also took a good return catch to remove Rob Mathias for a single and when Nigel Phillips trapped Mark Yea lbw for a duck Lamphey had lost three wickets for seven runs.
But Ian Kerrison showed again what an under-estimated cricketer he is by coming in at No 5 and helping Hall add 49 runs before the veteran left-hander gave keeper Johnson his second catch, this time off Martin Fletcher, with three fours in a typically gritty Hall knock.
Fletcher bowled Lamphey skipper Gibbs for a duck and England for four as he ended up with 3 for 24 but Kerrison moved smoothly to 30 not out and although Andrew Skeels also departed for four, Kerrison was still there at the end with Alan Lewis as Lamphey finished on 129 for seven.
