Hook (183 for 6) beat Llangwm (73 all out) Umpires: Dai Morris and Brian Thomas Scorers: Arthur Green and Jeff Saies
A fine opening stand of 90 between Jamie Phelps and Alister Platten sent Hook on the way to a 110-run win over near neighbours Llangwm, who not only suffered the indignity of local derby defeat but are likely to become the first side to finish a match with a minus points score since they will be reported by the umpires for a slow over rate.
Under the league rules this means they will have eight points deducted and since they managed only five points from this performance that means they finished the afternoon with a minus three score!
Perhaps that is why they batted so badly after Hook had set them a target well within their sights with a short road-side boundary but the home sides bowling was accurate and opening bowler Andrew Thomas, had the first four Llangwm batsmen in his pouch in his spell.
In sharp contrast, the absence of Martyn Inward and Andrew Harries clearly affected the Llangwm performance because Hook rarely looked troubled as a few catches went to ground and Messrs Platten and Phelps made them pay with some excellent stroke-play.
Platten reached 40, including five fours, before he was finally well caught at mid on by Mark Davies off Gary Phillips.
But Mick Haltam helped Phelps add another 55 runs and although Andrew Phillips finally had Phelps well caught at square leg by James Lewis the damage had been done because the Hook opener had seven boundaries in his fine 73.
It helped his side reach 183 for 6 as Darren Brick finished with 3 for 34 and Gary Phillips 2 for 27 - and in the early stages it seemed as if Llangwm would at least make a challenge as openers William Beresford and Ian Gow advanced the score to 21 without loss before Gow was adjudged lbw to Thomas and skipper Mark Davies followed for a duck as Mick Haltam took a superb catch at mid-wicket.
When William Beresford was bowled by Thomas it was the beginning of the end for Llangwm because only Richard Scriven and Darren Brick managed double figures as Thomas (4 for 25) was joined by Keith James (3 for 32), Matthew Holder and Gary Martin seeing Llangwm collapse to 73 all out.
