A foal named Zig Zag

The Western Telegraphs animal-loving readers have been busy thinking up suitable names for the cute baby zebra just born at Folly Farm Family Adventure Park.

The new arrival came as a surprise to everyone at Folly Farm - apart from mother zebra Mitzi, who had recently been acquired from another animal attraction.

After mum and babys picture appeared in the Western Telegraph a fortnight ago, there was a great response to the competition asking for suggestions for names.

Proving the most popular was Jubilee, while Itsy-Bitsy was quite a favourite with the judges. And there were some wonderful names suggested by the pupils of Johnston Nursery, who each sent in an individual entry.

But eventually the choice was made, and Folly Farms new baby zebra is named.....Zig Zag! The name was suggested by Alice Simon, of West Orielton Farm, Hundleton, who has won a family ticket for Folly Farm Adventure Park so that she can meet Zig Zag in person.
