TWO new coastal bus services are being introduced in North Pembrokeshire on Saturday.
The Poppit Rocket and Strumble Shuttle will provide public transport access to the coastline between St Davids and Cardigan, building on the success of the Puffin Shuttle and the Celtic Coaster coastal bus services.
The two new bus services will provide an innovative solution to rural transport problems along the coastline between St Davids and Cardigan, offering daily public transport to both locals and walkers and some areas receiving a local bus service for the first time.
The Poppit Rocket route follows the coastline between Fishguard and Cardigan, stopping at Pwllgwaelod, Dinas Cross, Newport, Moylegrove, Poppit Sands, St Dogmaels and Cardigan.
The Strumble Shuttle route follows the coastline between Fishguard and St Davids, stopping at Goodwick, Stop and Call, Pontiago, Strumble Head Junction, Trefasser Cross, Tregwynt, Mathry, Abercastle, Trefin, Llanrhian, Porthgain, Abereirddi and St Davids.
Richards Brothers Coaches will be operating both bus services, seven days a week.
Pembrokeshire Coastal Bus Services are an important link for walkers on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Trail. They provide transport to the start of your walk, enabling you to walk back to your destination, whether it be your car or accommodation, without having to re-trace your steps.
Both services have been designed and introduced by Pembrokeshire County Council in conjunction with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Pembrokeshire Greenways, with funding from the county councils allocation of Local Transport Services Grant, administered by the National Assembly.
The services will run until Sunday, September 29th, and All Wales bus pass holders will be pleased to learn that their passes are valid on Pembrokeshire Coast Bus Services.
For further information pick up a timetable leaflet from the Fishguard or Cardigan Tourist Information Centres, the St Davids National Park Information Centre or contact Pembrokeshire County Councils Transport Unit on 01437 775227 (during office hours). The timetable is also featured in the Western Telegraphs Summer Guide with next weeks issue.
q The bus services form part of the Pembrokeshire Greenways Initiative. For further information on Greenways contact Kirsty Morris, Greenways officer, on 01437 776 313 or e-mail kirsty.morris@pembrokeshire.gov.uk
