Wave of interest in beach sale

Beach sale businessman Kevin Lindsell has been on the crest of a wave of interest this week with the news that he is putting the sands of Saundersfoot up for sale.

For just £377,750, Kevin is not only selling his ownership in the villages main beach, but also his thriving Pembrokeshire Ice-cream business. The buyer gets all the beach above mean high water mark and a fleet of ice-cream vans, eight mobile kiosks along with trading rights.

Im actually selling a business with a beach, not a beach with a business, explained 49-year-old Kevin. But it certainly seems to have captured peoples imagination. Its not every day you get the chance to own part of a beach.

Kevin bought his share of Saundersfoot sand in 1997 from Eric Eynon, of Pendine, who operated Windsor Creameries. In turn, Mr Eynon had purchased part of the beach from the Vickerman Estate, of Saundersfoot, in order to secure his trading rights.

The business deal is being advertised in Daltons Weekly and on the internet. It has been put on the market by former oil company engineer Kevin because he and his wife Annie - a former Singapore international hockey team goalkeeper - want to live nearer her homeland.

The couple also run Home Farm Foods from their home at Devonshire Drive, Saundersfoot, and would consider including that business in the sale as well.

Weve had a very enjoyable five years here and like to think we have built a few bridges over trading rights on the beach in Saundersfoot, added Kevin.
