Motor mania at Cawdor fair

A mix of motor bikes, classic cars, tanks, a Royal Air Force display, fairground attractions, trade stands and live entertainment attracted large crowds to the Cawdor Fair and Motorcycle Show.

Held at the headquarters of the 14th Signal Regiment, the event raised a considerable sum for the Paul Sartori Foundation and the Army Benevolent Fund.

An outstanding display was given by Yamaha Promotional stunt rider, Dave Coates, and there were timed half mile speed runs. There was also a chance to see police motorbikes at first hand.

The spectacle of cars being crushed by tanks proved a real crowd puller and for the children there was a wonderful opportunity to ride in one of the tanks too. With almost clear skies above Brawdy, a Hawk jet pilot extended his display and did a re-run of his aeronautical display.

In the evening three bands provided live entertainment and there was camping overnight for the enthusiasts.

Said Martin Caley, one of the organisers: It was a great day and we hope to have raised between £2,500 and £3,000 to divide between the two charities.
